Places I’ve Worked

Marketing Manager

at Academic Travel Abroad & CET Academic Programs

April 2018 to Present
Washington, DC + Remote

  • Copywriting

  • Front-end web design and operations

  • Email marketing

  • Social media strategy

  • Content creation

What I’m most proud of:

  1. Working on a 4-person team to create and launch a 200+ page website (on time!)

  2. Developing program-specific Identity Abroad web pages and support networks where students can seek info and advice about certain lived experiences from alumni

  3. Spearheading social media campaigns to make content more engaging, effective, and actionable (including on-the-ground Instagram takeovers before COVID)

International Affairs Manager

at Peking University
Shenzhen Graduate School

August 2014 to March 2018
Shenzhen, China

My overarching objective was to develop and support the university’s rapidly growing international community of just over 200 people. I did this through inward-facing efforts that focused on the end-to-end development of the community culture itself, and outward-facing efforts of English media and press. In a nutshell, my duties looked like:

  • Community management

  • Event planning

  • English-language media direction

  • Website management and social media

What I’m most proud of:

  1. Established The Nanyan—an English-language blog to promote awareness and interest for the university’s international graduate programs

  2. Started International Student Profiles to demystify the idea of pursuing a degree in China (see an example)

  3. Recruited, trained, and managed a team of eight student staff responsible for supporting international students in their transition to life on campus and in Shenzhen

Early Literacy Tutor

at AmeriCorps: Literacy First (FKA A Community for Education)

August 2013 to June 2014
Austin, Texas

I implemented research-based curriculum to help my assigned students achieve their appropriate literacy goals. This also required careful data collection and logging into databases, and close communication with teachers, school administrators, and supervisors. My days consisted of:

  • One-on-one literacy training with K-2 students

  • Data entry

  • Teaching basic programming and robotics with Tech Reach, an after-school program bringing tech education to underfunded schools

  • Volunteering at community events and after-school programs

What I’m most proud of:

  1. Completed 1700 hours of service directly within my community

  2. Wrote an essay on my experience to encourage others to consider volunteering

  3. Helped 10 students reach their literacy goals while fostering a love for reading

Internships

Public Programs Intern | January 2013 to May 2013
Thinkery (fka Austin Children’s Museum)

In this role, I was responsible for the development and execution of STEAM curriculum in the museum's educational programs. I worked with a team to facilitate activities and closely monitor the successes and areas of improvement in programs and experiments. Behind the scenes, I worked to research, test, and prepare appropriate activities for themed educational sleepovers. Additionally, I prepared event logistics through careful inventory, materials purchasing, and scheduling.

Intern | Summer 2012
Habitat for Humanity China (Shanghai office)

Habitat for Humanity China aims to provide simple and decent homes to those in need. The Shanghai office specifically specializes in urban renovation and rural reconstruction, building homes for low-income and elderly residents in rural areas of Shanghai and Zhejiang province.

My primary office duties included researching potential cities for HFH China build expansions and drafting bilingual post-renovation reports and volunteer guidelines. Out of the office, I visited homes to collect data, photographed living spaces, and assisted the team as assigned. My internship also coincided with the Happy Move Build in the rural town of Pinghu, China, where I was responsible for photo taking, maintaining building safety standards, and volunteer morale.
